8/22/2023 0 Comments Action packer 8 gallon walmartThey have a nice lip on the lid, a place to lock if you like, and stack really, really, well. They've stood up really well to all sorts of abuse like hauling demolition debris, hauling power tools in and out of my van daily, being loaded up with loam and compost, etc. I have a mess of black/red Sterilite Industrial Totes that are way cheap, too, at like only $9ea/60qt & $12ea/108qt that I use for carpentry, garden, and household use. The 1620 you could wash a dog in, seriously, and the 1600 is about half the height. Recently found a gigantic 1620 on craigslist for way cheap that I picked up to go with my 1600 because they stack well. I've had one for 12 years, a 1510 with wheels and extendable carry-on handle, that has been all over the continent with me. Heavier, extremely protective, have pressure valves, just all-around rugged beasts. The Pelicans, well, are Pelicans and live up the the Pelican name. I ordered mine from Zarges direct, in Charlotte NC and they showed up (free shipping) in two days. I know from experience I'd end up fouling that gasket and getting little gashes and chunks torn out of it. I chose Zarges over Alu-Box because the gasket is in the lid, not on the rim of the lower case like Alu-Box. I chose the two sizes that are "Bear Resistant" - two 40678 and one 40810. I kinda like knowing that, and that the slow accumulation of stickers and badges may mean something to them at some point long after I'm gone. The Zarges I have because they're pretty much bear-proof and about the longest-lived gear I own, and I know the extra pesos spent on them mean they're something that will outlive me, and that my daughter and likely her daughter will be able to use. I like that it's hollow and flattens when the clasps are battened down. I used Trim-Lok and time will tell how it holds up. Adding some EPDM 1/2 round rubber to the inner lip on the lid, as shown in other threads here, is really helpful in making them tighter to weather, though they really do pretty damned good on their own without it. The 1619's are only 24" long exterior and a comfortable sitting height, and fit nicely under the different bed arrangements I've had. I really like the smaller size Plano 1619, and find the 108 qt just too big for most stuff so far. What I use most are four Plano #1619 56qt Sportsman's Trunks for everyday stuff, clothes, and non-food camp gear three newer Zarges K470 aluminum cases for kitchen/food stuffs, and three different Pelican cases for my photog gear. Some stuff lives permanently in certain containers, always ready to go. What I pull out and use depends on what type of wandering I'm going to do and where. I use a variety of containers for storing stuff, and have a veritable boatload of different sizes and strengths.

8/22/2023 0 Comments Sigma 18 50mm f 2.8This was my first standard zoom after the original kit lens.Īs such, it did a great job - it's a marked step up in pretty much all respects over the kit lens that came with my K200D. Sharpness: 8 Aberrations: 6 Bokeh: 6 Handling: 9 Value: 7 Camera Used: K200D and K-5 II Autofocus: 7 Takes in dust quite willingly, performance degraded quickly Generally solid Build, a good step up from the Kit Lens But it can definitely be a great value for shrewd consumer. I don't think it stands out from its competition to where its a must have. If you see this for a low price and you're looking to upgrade your kit lens, I'd say its worth a go. It's one of my walkaround lens when I only want to bring one and it's done quite well there. But for what I paid for it, its get a solid 9. I believe if I had paid closer to the norm, I'd rate it an 8. And as mentioned before, its weaker at the long end.Ĭonsidering I paid much less than normal, I got a great value here and I really enjoy the lens. The lens does tend to creep in the vertical position if you don't lock it and that can get annoying. On the bright side, it feels sturdy and tough. Its on the large side but that's one of the prices you pay with a fixed aperture zoom. A lot of people will not enjoy carrying around something like this all day so I list it as a con. I actually don't think this is a con personally, but it is heavy. It occasionally hunts in low light but is overall consistent and reliable. Autofocus isn't silent but it's not intrusive. Contrast is okay but if more is needed, there's always PP. Its color rendering is one of its strongest points in my opinion. I wouldn't describe it as butter smooth like some prime but it's not ugly by any means. I typically have it at f/5.6 or so if the lighting/subject permits. My copy is reasonably sharp in the center at f/2.8 but you'll see large improvements in this area if you stop down. I have been able to get some sharp photos with this. As long as my subject doesn't require a longer focal length, this lens can admirably perform. I have been able to use this for handheld night shots and indoor concerts with great success. It has noticeably better IQ than your DAL kit lens though. Actually, I don't think this lens excels at anything, it's just good and well rounded. It's noticeably softer on the telephoto end than the wide end. I have been able to use it for portraits on the fly but that's not where it excels. I use this mostly when I'm trolling around the city and I want to get some good architecture shots. There's certainly better lenses on the market but I'm quite satisfied with its performance. I was immediately annoyed with it and sought to find a good, general, walk around lens. This was intended to be my replacement to the kit lens my K-3II came with. I purchased my copy used in Excellent condition, at a low price around Christmas time. My favorite restaurant at the Flamingo is Carlos N Charlie's. The high roller is pretty much in your backyard and it is an easy walk to other hotels on the strip if you don't choose to use the monorail. I haven't been there when they have had pool events but I know they exist. There is a pool bar and there is always music playing. First, it is on the Las Vegas Monorail so there is easy transportation that is low cost if you get the day pass or more than one day pass. Other than the room, I love staying at this hotel for a couple reasons. However my first time was the King Bed, Fab Room which I would recommend as it was much better quality and I had no issues with it. I had chosen the lowest room category this time around. If I were there to stay at the hotel and use more of it's amenities I would have asked to change rooms but it was only there to sleep and eat at the restaurants. Although the tub has been cleaned, it did not look appealing and I didn't want to use it. However during this stay, the room was great but the bathroom needs some upgrading. I have stayed here once before and the room and bathroom were up to my standard. You can also eat outside by the pool or even enjoy a spot of gambling in the pool casino located at the GO Pool! But if she isn’t homophobic, if Offset respects “gays” as much as Cardi B claims he does, then they should be as sensitive to LGBTQ feelings as black rappers expect white teenagers at their concerts to be respectful of theirs. Minaj has a significant gay following, and her dropping the S word doesn’t mean she has anything against them. On the next song, “Barbie Dreams,” she’s skewering Young Thug for wearing dresses and mocking the “gay lisp.” “They switchin’ like sissies now/You n-ggas is iffy now,” She raps two tracks in, on “Majesty,” which features - surprise! - Eminem. Fast forward seven years, and Minaj is casually tossing off homophobic rhymes on her latest album “Queen” (presumably a reference to herself and not to gay men). In 2011, Nicki Minaj tried to rationalize Eminem’s use of the word “f-ggot” on her track “Roman’s Revenge” by saying he was speaking as a character he was playing. She isn’t the first female rapper to stand by a male rapper accused of homophobia. His wife Cardi B defended him in a Twitter Live video - “He literally told me he didn’t know that was a word for gays,” she said - and scolded his detractors for being offended rather than “educating.”Ĭan anyone who is fluent in English and whose job revolves around words seriously not know the connection between “gay” and “queer”? Still, fans and fellow rappers canonized him after his shooting death in June, overlooking his history of homophobia and violence against women.Įarlier this year, when Migos rapper Offset offended the LGBTQ community by rapping “I cannot vibe with queers” on YFN Lucci’s track “Boss Life,” he apologized and claimed to have meant “queer” not in the “gay” sense but in the “strange” or “odd” sense. The late rapper XXXTentacion once bragged about nearly beating a man to death in prison for looking at him a little too long while he was naked. 8/22/2023 0 Comments Freedom bike toursI'm older now and was a bit nervous about the trek but knew my son really wanted to do this ride. Riding to Mount Vernon from Alexandria on bike has been something I've wanted to do since we visited DC several years ago. My teenage son and I took a mom/son trip to DC. We felt bad that we had been so difficult BUT they were the ones who kept apologizing I can’t say enough about the good service we received, they were so helpful and friendly, I would highly recommend Bike and Roll- especially the Alexandria team! On the way home, my niece ran over a staple and got a flat tire! Again, we called and -NO PROBLEM, John arranged for her to be picked up and brought back. We called the company and- NO PROBLEM- they told us to just lock the bike up and they would come and pick it up! So she headed home and we toured the museum. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law wasn’t feeling well and decided that after the mansion tour and a delicious lunch at the restaurant she wanted to Uber home. What a beautiful ride! A great path along the Potomac and an easy 10 mile ride ( especially with an ebike). John was great getting us set up, explaining how to use the bike and lock and directions to get there and what to do, so off we went. My husband rides all the time and had his own bike. I wanted to reserve 3 bikes- one a comfort hybrid for my 25 year old niece and 2 upgraded to electric bikes for my sister-in/law and myself. We had a complicated reservation but the staff assured me that it was no problem. First, I just want to say how much fun we had on our bike ride to Mount Vernon! We booked our bikes just 2 days before but had no trouble getting what we needed. 8/22/2023 0 Comments Rat fink car stickersMy very old-school father though took one look at it, confiscated it and used it for a rag in the garage. I then bought a Revell Brother Rat Fink T-Shirt Iron-On Transfer at the Seven Mile Hobby Shop just west of the Southfield Expressway in Detroit in the early summer of 1965 and successfully applied it to one of my T-shirts: That issue proved key in shaping my interests since it also prompted me to send away to Millar Publications for every back issue of Drag Cartoons and Big Daddy Roth magazine I could get and also sparked an abiding interest in hot rods that's stayed with me to the present day. What's certain is that this ad which appeared in issue #16 of Drag Cartoons that I bought in May 1965 sealed the deal in turning me into a "Big Daddy" Roth fanatic for life: Wow! Winning "Big Daddy" Roth's company as a house guest for a week! How cool would that be? A girl in her early teens from New Jersey actually won the contest with her "Scuz-Fink" submission. I also remember gazing with wonder at this ad which also appeared on the back cover of some DC comics as well as on the back cover of issue #4 of Big Daddy Roth magazine: And who could of course afford relatively more expensive spray paint cans! My desire for all things Roth was then further stoked by these ads:Įven though I saw such a Testor's paint display stand at the hobby shop above Cowan's Hardware in downtown London, I knew these paints were for more sophisticated cooler kids who could actually paint. Later in perhaps early 1965 I bought this even wilder Revell Roth Mysterion kit that I'd been admiring for several months at Tuckey Hardware: I bought it almost immediately, built it nicely but left it unpainted: While I was strongly drawn to the Revell "Big Daddy" Roth custom car and fink kits right from start, I don't clearly remember when and where I first learned of these kits or "Big Daddy" Roth's existence. It was perhaps from an ad for one of his model kits in Boy's Life magazine in 1963 or so:īut I clearly remember looking at the Revell Beatnik Bandit model kit at the Tuckey Hardware store two blocks from my house in London, Ontario sometime in early 1964:Ī few months afterward I was completely knocked out when I saw the Revell Rat Fink model kit at the Coles bookstore on Dundas Street in downtown London. I have a pretty good collection of the model cars and quite a few of the Rat Fink buttons, that I believe Topps put out but would have to dig them out to be sure.īig Daddy was an icon and hopefully will always be remembered. Right before the pandemic we decided that we were too old to be throwing a leg over the side or sitting on the big back tires to get in so we sold the car. It was a show car but wouldn't be hurt as long as no one was holding an ice cream and drink while sitting inside. They all wanted to sit in the T and pretend to drive and I always let them and encouraged moms to put their kids behind the wheel. Our last outing in 2017 a lot of kids came by and no one recognized the Rat. In the late 1990's a lot of people recognized the pin striping and the Rat Fink adornment and even the tee shirts. At shows we wore our Rat Fink tee shirts with the big RF on the back. The Rat Fink design thereafter sold by Roth Studios as decals and on T-shirts was Leynnwood's reworked version with slightly simplified R.F. Jack Leynnwood's very slightly reworked Rat Fink then became "Big Daddy" Roth's signature piece. Revell's staff artist Jack Leynnwood then cleaned up the art just a bit by trimming the hair in and around Rat Fink's ears and rounding the "R" for the Revell model kit which was issued just a few months later in 1963: Here it is with its classic colouring scheme applied by Weldonmc: The original pencil and ink drawing may have been rendered by Carl Kohler early in the year before he was supplanted by Wes Bennett as Roth's go-to artist. The iconic Rat Fink image made its first appearance in the July 1963 issue of Car Craft magazine in an ad entitled "The rage in California". There are no vintage card sets devoted to Rat Fink or any of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's creations. They may feel ashamed, embarrassed, or anxious about their behavior, especially when it is noticed or criticized by others. Individuals with pica often experience emotional distress related to their eating habits. Pica can lead to various complications depending on the substances ingested. These substances can vary widely and may include things like dirt, clay, chalk, ice, paper, or hair. The hallmark symptom of pica is an intense craving and consumption of non-food items. Environmental factors, such as exposure to lead or other toxins, can also increase the risk of pica. In some cultures, the consumption of non-food substances is part of traditional or religious practices. Not only was Christ’s miraculous birth prophetically revealed, but God planned his lineage from the very beginning. It’s our hope that your faith is strengthened as you pursue these prophecies about Jesus. For each one, we included a verse showing its fulfillment in the New Testament. We’ve ordered the prophecies based on their Old Testament book order. What chance would he have of getting the right one? Just the same chance that the prophets would have had of writing these eight prophecies and having them all come true in any one man, from their day to the present time, providing they wrote using their own wisdom.” 55 Old Testament prophecies about Jesus We put together 55 prophecies that cover four specific areas: “Blindfold a man and tell him that he can travel as far as he wishes, but he must pick up one silver dollar and say that this is the right one. Now mark one of these silver dollars and stir the whole mass thoroughly, all over the state. They will cover all of the state two feet deep. Suppose that we take 10 17 silver dollars and lay them on the face of Texas. If you mark one of ten tickets, and place all of the tickets in a hat, and thoroughly stir them, and then ask a blindfolded man to draw one, his chance of getting the right ticket is one in ten. In Science Speaks, he described it like this: The prospect that anyone would satisfy those eight prophecies was just 1 in 10 17. The conclusion to his research was staggering. They came up with extremely conservative probabilities for each one being fulfilled, and then considered the likelihood of Jesus fulfilling all eight of those prophecies. With 600 students from the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Stoner looked at eight specific prophecies about Jesus. Peter Stoner, Chairman of the Departments of Mathematics and Astronomy at Pasadena College, was passionate about biblical prophecies. These prophecies are specific enough that the mathematical probability of Jesus fulfilling even a handful of them, let alone all of them, is staggeringly improbable-if not impossible. Some scholars believe there are more than 300 prophecies about Jesus in the Old Testament.
